Mr. C and I are now officially speakers of a second language...Calvinese. We are by no means fluent, but we are learning more every day. Thankfully Calvin's talking is getting better every day as well, so pretty soon we can all just speak English! (that is until we have to learn Cameronese!)
He actually speaks quite well in full sentences now and he says his "s" sounds pretty clearly (there were a few weeks where he sounded a lot like Daffy Duck)! He still uses "b" in place of "v" (i.e. Grandpa Bic - hee hee), and "f", but he's getting better every day.
Sometimes it's what he says that is so cute...
Today in the car -Cam: making squeaking noises
Me: What's baby talking about?CJ: Baby's talking about Calvin.
Me: Oh is he?
CJ: Yeah!Me: He's a nice baby isn't he?
CJ: Yeah, he's a nice baby.
Me: Do you love him?
CJ: Yeah, I love him!
The rest of the time it's how he says thing that is funny...
Here's a small sample from the Calvinese/English dictionary -
stopstarey = strawberry
stopstarey steet = Sesame Street
rooooo = vacuum or drill
upaladdago = ladder (up a ladder go)heydadda = helicopter (this has now progressed to 'helitocta' - he's getting closer!)
boonama = bananakeen = coin
boggy = frogworking = wrench
cutting = saw or knife
brudda = brother
I also love that he says 'teddy bear bear' every time, instead of just teddy bear, and that he's started calling me 'pretty lady' (thanks to much encouragement from Mr. C!). Also, that he says "I wanna go faster, faster" whenever he wants more pushes on the swing.
He still loves to just make funny noises and have me make them back. He's still constantly asking "What's this?". Sometimes I'll hear him say something, then say "that's not a word!", so he's starting to self correct, which is very cute.
Whenever he hears Cameron crying Calvin says "Ohhh, baby" in a very serious, sad voice! Sometimes if Cam is right there he says "What's the madda baby?" or "It's okay baby" and gives him a kiss and a cuddle. Awwww :) That's what it's all about.
