| I like my new digger! |
We had Calvin's party a bit late this year as Mr. C was in NZ for a week right after we returned from our trip overseas to visit family and I knew I wouldn't be able to prepare for it all on my own. Luckily little mister is young and doesn't know or care when the party happens!
Calvin is still mad for all things transport, most especially trains and all things to do with construction. I thought he would want to go to the model trains for his party, but when I gave him some choices he always wanted to have a 'digger' party - so construction themed party it was!
Mr. C procured a half ton of dirt delivered to the bottom of our driveway the day before the party, and moved it all up to the back yard himself...and no, he didn't use the little digger! Calvin was thrilled to have a dump truck arrive at the house and leave a pile of dirt just for him and he still plays with it every day. (Cam too)
There were hard hats for all the boys and girls to wear and everyone had lots of fun getting dirty, playing in the sand, playing with the blocks and bricks (cardboard) inside, and eating lots of treats.
We got very lucky that there was a break in the rain over the weekend and it warm enough to break out the slip n' slide and wash off all the dirt before they had some dirt cake! (easiest cake ever - no decorating!)
The boys are still enjoying the big pile of dirt in the back yard, Cam spends more time eating it than playing with it, and they love having shovels and tools handy for digging. Calvin spent several days sitting on his digger saying "Look, I have a new digger!" and asking us to come outside and watch him using it! The thrill has worn off now, but he does enjoy it, and if he ever figures out the pedals he'll really love it again!
