Amazingly IVF does work and I managed to get pregnant and stay pregnant (not as easy as you might think!) - we had several ultrasounds in the early weeks of my pregnancy, but all we could see was a little blob on the screen...our little tadpole with it's miniscule heart flickering away on screen. Finally we got to that magical 12 week mark and the nuchal translucency scan which looks for genetic issues. Wow - suddenly it looked like a real baby, and best of all the scan was all clear (along with some blood work), so I didn't have to do CVS or amnioscentisis - phew!
The top image is at 8 weeks - just a blob, be we love it dearly already. The next image is a profile at 12 weeks and the last is a 3D image at 12 weeks looking from above at the face (I know it looks a lot like a gummy bear!).
