bubba....

Calvin's latest favorite word is bubba.....he uses it when he sees a baby on tv or a in a photo (great), when he sees my belly (perfect), for his belly (hee hee), for Craig's belly (hilarious), for bubbles (fair enough), for any child he sees that's near his age or younger (that works...mostly), and for the vacuum (??). Yeah, we haven't figured out the last one yet other than it's his word for things he likes - maybe! He will also point at something and just say buh, buh when there's something he wants and we're left to figure out what on earth he's questing after.

A couple of weeks ago it was "moh" (more) for everything, but now he rarely says that...even if he actually wants more food or drink! Most of his current words seem to start with the buh or bah sound, however he does say clock (well, he leaves the 'l' out, but we won't go there) and uses it for watches (non digital) and clocks alike, despite that fact that we don't have any non-digital clocks in the house - a real mystery that one.

I was a bit worried about Calvin's eating for awhile there as he is refusing all vegetables and generally doesn't eat a lot of solids most days, but he LOVES his milk and is obviously not wasting away! I finally got smart and started mixing veggies into sauces, breads, and wherever else possible. So far it works great - he even ate pasta with a creamy sauce with spinach mixed in, which makes me happy. He still doesn't eat a lot, except for those rare days when he eats us out of house and home!

Everything is progressing well with my pregnancy. I saw my OB this week and he was happy with my progress (nice low BP, belly measuring right on for size, baby VERY active). Amazingly my headaches have almost completely disappeared. I think it's due to the migraine medicine I've been taking (they stopped when I switched to twice a day), but it could just be down to timing of the pregnancy. It's wonderful to not be in pain every day and to not be taking codeine constantly - I find that I am much less tired and in a much improved mood - good news for everyone! On the down side I have developed restless leg syndrome (I had it with CJ as well) - hopefully magnesium will help with that, but I've had some very rough nights and days waiting for it to kick in.

Last weekend we went to a lovely garden that is only open to the public for two weekends in the spring. It was fun to have a little outing and Calvin got to see some ducklings and generally run around and have a good time. We are going away for a few days this weekend for my birthday, hopefully the 4.5 hour drive with a 19 month old won't be too bad (and won't take us too much longer than that) and we can get to Port Macquarie and relax.
