"What's..."

Mommy and me

I'm stuck!

hammocks are good in the winter too!

Calvin's favorite phrase at the moment is "What's... (insert question here)?"

...Mommy(Daddy/Baby) doing?

...that sound? (before he started asking what he would just put his hand to his ear theatrically and call out "That sound?" - it was very cute)

...that? (pointing at a picture or something)

...baby saying?

...happening today?

"What are you doing today?"

"What are you talking about Mommy/Daddy?"

He asks these questions constantly, often the same question numerous times in a row despite the fact that I've already answered him (or that he already knows the answer perfectly well)! I know the "Why?" stage is meant to be aggravating, and I'm sure it will be, but I feel like we are already there!

When he's not asking "What?" he is demanding "Want!", often 5 - 10 different requests within a minute despite the fact that I am already working on getting him one of the items (argh!). We are working very hard to get him to say please along with these requests (and to keep them to a bare minimum - hah!). There have been some stand-offs in this quest, but he has now learned to say please if he really wants it, and if he doesn't then he has to find something else to do/eat. He still mostly only says it after we specifically ask him to though....if we say "You need to ask nicely", Calvin singsongs "Ask nicely". If we ask "What's the magic word?", there he is singsonging "Magic word!", and when we say "How do you ask?" he just gives a cheeky grin and makes his request once again, sans "please" - grrr. Two year-olds definitely know how to test ones patience!

Then there are the moments when he is just so gorgeous, so absolutely breathtaking that I can't believe we created such a magical little creature. There are kisses and cuddles, "I love Mommy" and "I love you so much" (with a hug), and adorable little made-up songs, sounds, and ideas. He makes me laugh till I cry and he makes me smile every day, despite the moments of pure frustration.

Cameron is 6 months old now- wow, the time really has gone quickly. He's just started rolling over from back to front and he is loving his food (eating purees 3x a day). Also, he has started babbling..."babababa" and "mamamama". Usually when he's hungry or distressed, but more and more often now he just 'chats' with us.

It's amazing to see the two boys together. Cameron absolutely adores Calvin. He is always laughing at Calvin when he's making funny noises or just walking down the stairs. Calvin loves his brother as well and is always giving him cuddles. When he hears Cameron crying he says "What's wrong baby?" or "Have to check on baby." I've even had him go all the way upstairs and into Cameron's room to check on him and keep him company until I could get up there! Calvin really enjoys entertaining Cameron by making funny noises to make him laugh, or dragging him across the room (by the end of his sleeping bag) - hilarious!
